Year 1 students had a wonderful day at Sovereign Hill last week. We enjoyed a lolly/sweet making demonstration, an education session and panning for gold. We also browsed the shops and visited various trades, crafts and stores. Some of us played bowling, saw other children attending school in an 1850s classroom, watched candle dipping, climbed the observation tower, saw special artifacts (including replica gold nuggets) and viewed goldminers’ camp sites and old steam boilers. It provided a wonderful experience of what life was like in the past as part of our ‘Past, Present, Future’ Integrated Studies learning this term.
