On Wednesday 21 March, the St John’s school community celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a national celebration of Australian multiculturalism – it is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians. These are important values for St John’s as well, so it was wonderful to take a day to acknowledge and enjoy the diversity within our own school community.
The students came in traditional dress, participated in class activities, enjoyed a variety of food from around the globe and joined in our own mini festival. We had 21 countries represented – how exciting! Thank you to all our families who joined us for the day. It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents and friends sharing their culture, as well as celebrating and learning about the culture of others.
