How long has St John’s existed?
St John’s commenced on this site in 1962 with 47 pupils. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2012.
How many students are at St John’s?
Enrolments in 2018 are close to 300 students, ranging from 4 Year Old Kindergarten to Year 6.
Do we have to be Lutheran?
No, but Lutherans are given a high priority when places are offered.
What is “Lutheran”?”
A Lutheran is a Christian person who believes the truths of God’s Word as written in the Holy Bible. In doing this we confess the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To be a confessional Lutheran is to be one who honours the Word of God and believes the confessional writings of the Lutheran Church as summarized in Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. Hand-in-hand with our commitment to pure teaching and confession of the faith, is, and always must be, our equally strong commitment to reaching out boldly with the Gospel and speaking God’s truth to the world.
How old does our child have to be to start Kinder/Prep?
Children must be 4 years of age by April 30th of the year of intended commencement into the 4 Year Old Kindergarten class.
Children must be 5 years of age by April 30th of the year of intended commencement into Prep.
How much does it cost to apply?
A non-refundable $100 fee per kindergarten application.
A non-refundable $100 fee per school application.
When will families find out if they are offered a place?
Families are notified in June of the year before intended commencement.
Is St John’s connected with Geelong Lutheran College?
Geelong Lutheran College and St John’s Lutheran School share one governance and one Principal, Ms Jill Lange-Mohr. The schools share an ethos, a faith and a vocation – to serve God through serving others. We are both committed to quality in all areas of schooling and strive to develop the whole child – intellectually, physically, emotionally, psychologically and socially.
Can we visit the School?
Private tours of the school are available throughout the year. If you wish to visit please contact the School Office. Our staff will make a time for you to meet with the Head of School.
