Walking through the doors at the Newtown Event Centre was a walk down memory lane – 80’s memorabilia of movie posters and musicians lined the walls, prompting a nostalgic memory of teenage years. The room was abuzz with anticipation and excitement for the night ahead, filled with guests dressed appropriately for the era. Ra-Ra skirts, fluoro colours, legwarmers, mullets, punk hairstyles, TV and movie icons, Hulk Hogan and a couple of Ghostbusters!

The tables were ready to go and  the rules for the night were set out. Twelve rounds each consisting of four questions, interspersed with small games with prizes.  The questions put everyone to the test and thinking caps were put on to come up with the correct answers.

A huge thank you to Kylie Connor for all her work beforehand in organising the venue, the prizes, the trivia master and Disco music.

Kylie would like to especially thank Amanda Tuckerman and her creative talents in decorating the venue “80’s style”, along with the help of Susan Sprague; and also, Alison in the school office for coordinating the ticket sales for us.  However the biggest thank you must go to all the parents, friends and St John’s staff who attended the night!  We had 84 guests which was an amazing effort for our first ever school Trivia Night, and the effort that everybody went to with their hair, costumes and makeup made for many laughs and a fantastic night.

We’re looking forward to doing it all again in 2018!
