Apart from the chilly weather that greeted me, it was a pleasure to return from my long service leave. Traveling and sight-seeing in Ukraine was a wonderful experience! It was a pleasure to visit so many historical sites as well as meet friendly and welcoming people.
Thank you to all of the families who have responded to our request to complete their child’s personal profile on CareMonkey. This electronic system enables you to provide the most current information about your child (ren) and also eliminates the need for printing, sending as well as collecting notes about excursions or events. We remind you that information and permission relating to excursions or events will now only be sent home via CareMonkey.
Towards the end of last term, students in Years 5 and 6 travelled to Ballarat to attend camp. The theme was focused around the topic of the ‘Gold Rush’. Students had the opportunity to take part in the Sovereign Hill Schooling program that allowed them to step back in time and experience schooling of the 1850’s. They were engaged in their activities and experiences, and for most of them, it gave them a far greater appreciation of the luxuries and equality of schooling today. In addition to the Sovereign Hill experience, the students also took part in an array of programs at the Ballarat Art Museum and the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka which was the actual place that the Eureka Stockade took place. It was a wonderful experience shared by all students, parents and staff who attended the camp.
The Years 5 and 6 Interschool Sporting Competition, the Year 6 Debating Competition and the Years 5 and 6 German Poetry Competition are three additional extra-curricular opportunities that are offered to our students. It is amazing to witness the time and dedication contributed by our students, staff and parents in order to prepare for, and compete in these activities/competitions. It is amazing to witness the sportsmanship, enthusiasm and humbleness displayed by these competitors. We will keep you posted with the final results!
May you each have a blessed and wonderful week ahead.
